Postpartum Doula or NCS
A welcoming family in Belvedere, CA (94920) is seeking a calm, patient, and reliable Postpartum Doula or Newborn Care Specialist to support them after the arrival of their baby. They are hoping to begin services 2 days to one week after birth, with a preferred schedule of:
– 5 nights per week, 8 hours per night, for 6 weeks
– 4 nights per week, 8 hours per night, for 2 weeks
– 3 nights per week, 8 hours per night, for 2 weeks
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing overnight care for the newborn, including feeding support, soothing, diapering, and establishing healthy sleep routines.
- Offering lactation support and guidance for breastfeeding, including troubleshooting and positioning.
- Assisting parents in gaining confidence with newborn care, while ensuring they also get rest and recovery time.
- Preparing light, nutritious meals and snacks that support postpartum recovery and breastfeeding.
- Educating and guiding parents on infant development, gentle sleep shaping, and establishing age-appropriate routines.
- Maintaining a calm, nurturing environment and offering reassurance and emotional support during the transition to parenthood.
The ideal candidate is calm, experienced, and thoughtful, with extensive newborn care experience. Someone with specific knowledge of lactation and diet to optimize feeding. Also someone compassionate and patient, who understands the tender nature of the early weeks and can offer reassurance to the family. Overall creating a safe, nurturing environment that supports both baby and parents.
Must be vaccinated (TDAP, TB Test, Seasonal Flu)
Compensation: $40-45/hr, depending on experience.
